Canadian geese get a bad rep. Are they our number one predator? Possibly. Do they steal snacks from adorable young children who are just out for a spring stroll, disrupting an otherwise perfect day while leaving trails of yuck literally everywhere? I won't answer that. If you know, you know.
A Trillium Geese is my whimsical take on our most iconic (and opinionated) bird. I wanted to capture the softer side. The beauty and power that they possess. They are so much more than snack stealers, after all. Canadian geese work together, taking turns leading their mates in the V formation. Not only do they step up when they see their flock is tired, bearing the difficulty of navigation and wind, but they also know when it is time to trust another goose to guide the way. It started as a drawing, became a painting, and now it's here as a second edition print. The first editions were scooped up about as fast as a goose steals snacks from an unsuspecting kid at the park. Original artwork by me, Kat Leibfried (aka Frenly), made in Niagara, Ontario.
