Patient and full of song. The cicada is the soundtrack of summer, that warm, buzzing hum that carries on the wind and somehow makes everything feel slower and more alive at the same time.

I created this piece in anticipation of Cicada Fest, an epic music and arts festival hosted on Henley Island in St. Catharines every year. Hanging out in a hammock, doodling these winged creatures and googling facts about them... did you know some cicadas "sleep" under the roots of trees for 17 years before they come to the surface? Well, that one really got me. It got me thinking that to sing loudly, you must be well rested. Original artwork by me, Kat Leibfried (aka Frenly), made in St. Catharines, Ontario.

Everyone calls this the moth print. It may not technically be a moth but if that's what you see then for you that's what it shall be :) .... I have some moth plans brewing though.
